WORK VISA INFORMATION

Unlike residence permit, Work Visamade to the employee by the employer. Specifically, I already have experience in obtaining and directly in the process of obtaining a work visa. I will not say that I know everything, but I have some experience. Therefore, I will not delve into this issue, but only write information in general.

 

Foreigners who want to work in Turkey must apply for a work permit and a work visa at our overseas offices. During this application, it is enough to present a document confirming that the employer will hire a foreigner, a visa application form and a passport. Not later than ten working days after the submission of this application, the employer must also apply to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security along with the documents requested by the said ministry. A list of these documents can be found on the website(http://www.csgb.gov.tr/). Applications are processed within 30 days. Foreigners who come to Turkey with a work visa must apply for a residence permit at the Security Office in the province where they are located no later than one month and before starting work.

 

Work permit replacing residence permit

Under the above law, a work permit replaces a residence permit. In other words, a foreign citizen with a work permit receives the right to stay in our country without the need to obtain a residence permit during the period of validity of this permit.

 

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) "Work Permit"

1. My work permit is almost expired, can I apply for a residence permit?

Prior to the expiration of the work permit, you can apply for a residence permit in accordance with your purpose within the last 60 days.

 

2. Do I need to obtain a residence permit after the issuance of a work permit?

Work permits issued by state institutions and organizations authorized to work by the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family or in accordance with their own legislation are accepted as a residence permit for the duration of their validity.

 

3. Will my residence permit be canceled if my work permit is cancelled?

Since a work permit counts instead of a residence permit, a residence permit is not required if the work permit is still valid. However, if the work permit expires, another 10 days are given to apply for a residence permit. During this period, the applicant can apply for a residence permit. A foreigner can legally stay in the country until the end of the residence permit.

 

4. I have a work permit. Can I get an education in Turkey?

In the event that a foreigner who has a work permit can obtain a residence permit, he/she can use the work permit and the rights provided for in the student residence permit.

 

5. To apply for a work permit, at least how many months or years must the residence permit be valid?

In accordance with legal regulations, except for those who are eligible to apply, applications for a work permit must be made within the country within the last 6 months (Except for a short-term residence permit for tourism purposes) and if you still have a valid residence permit, you can contact the Department of Labour, Human Services and Family.

 

6. Do foreigners have to give any notice when a work permit is considered a residence permit?

According to the twenty-seventh article of the Law on Aliens and International Protection No. 6458, a work permit replaces a residence permit. Foreigners who have received the appropriate work permit must register with the Regional Office of the Migration Service within 20 working days after entering Turkey.

 

7. With temporary protection status, can I get a work permit?

Aliens with temporary protection may apply for a work permit or exemption from a work permit six months after the date of issue of the temporary protection certificate.

 

8. I am in Turkey with refugee status, can I get a work permit?

Foreigners with refugee or secondary protection status can work. An identity card with refugee or secondary protection status is issued instead of a work permit and is recorded on the identity card.

 

9. I am a student in Turkey, can I get a work permit?

Foreigners studying full-time in Turkey at a higher education institution in technical schools, undergraduate, graduate, doctoral studies have the right to work with the condition of obtaining a work permit. The right to work for graduate and undergraduate students begins after the first year of study and is regulated by the relevant law. Applications are submitted to the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family.

 

10. Can undergraduate and doctoral students studying in Turkey apply for a work permit?

Undergraduates and doctoral students studying in Turkey can work if they receive a work permit. Students who have received a work permit are exempted from the obligation to obtain a residence permit during the period of validity of the work permit.

 

11. Do foreign footballers need a work permit?

Foreign footballers and other athletes and coaches approved by the Turkish Football Federation and the Ministry of Youth and Sports are not required to obtain work permits for the duration of their contracts.
