Import of vehicles with foreign plates into Turkey

"need to know"

It's no secret that the prices of vehicles in Turkey are inflated due to the high cost of customs clearance services. Why and for what purpose this is done is a rhetorical question and I see no point in discussing it here. But since cars in Turkey are more expensive than most in their homeland, the question arises whether it is possible to bring your  car, what rules apply, and so on.

In social networks and in general in the Russian-speaking segment of the Internet, there are many different opinions, but most of them are built on the version of "grandmother said", "a friend did this" and so on. In fact, if a person was not directly involved in the process, then he is unlikely to understand what is at stake. Moreover, even participation in the process without knowing the language does not always give a correct picture of what is happening.

What follows from this: and it follows that without understanding the process of what is happening, a person believes that this is not logical, not legal, and in general ... (he thinks a lot of nasty things about the country and its inhabitants). In general, this is understandable, when "Vasya" from the Internet talks "allegedly about his experience" in importing a car, and believing it is not clear to whom you bring the car, and the procedure is not at all like that and everything is not at all like that, then for some reason you blame the inhabitants of the country, and not "Vasya" from the Internet. This is how most people on planet Earth work.

Well, that's okay, it's interesting that then a person writes and spreads false information further and everyone, based on their experience, moves their rules based on their own experience and conclusions.  For some reason, most do not try to study the law, but they consider it their civic duty to write "nasty things" on the Internet.

In theory, each case must be considered separately, and it is not possible to draw up an algorithm of actions that would be suitable for absolutely every case. As with anything, there are nuances to this too.

The circumstances described above inspired me to write this article. In this article, I do not make a deal on a specific case and my experience, but only try to explain to those who can read and think, the basic principles of the Turkish customs legislation.

For those who have the patience to read everything to the end, will receive a prize in the form of links to the original legislation, where everyone can check the points described by me in this article.

I wish you happy reading! You can write all additional questions and just comments below.
