31. I entered Turkey with my car, can I leave my car in Turkey and go abroad?
If you imported a car and you have a desire to travel abroad without it, you can do this by depositing your car at the customs warehouse closest to your place and deleting the registration of the vehicle from your passport.
32. I brought a motorcycle with my car. I have to go abroad with my car and come back. Can my motorcycle stay in Turkey?
Yes. However, you can only travel abroad by handing over your motorcycle to the nearest bonded warehouse.
33. How much do I have to pay when I temporarily leave my car in a customs warehouse?
Customs warehouses are operated by special organizations. Therefore, it is necessary to obtain such information directly from the managing organization and/or the relevant customs administration.
34. How long can my car that I left in the warehouse stay there?
Vehicles left in the customs warehouse can stay for 1 (one) month.
35. I want to leave the car that I brought to Turkey as a tourist to the state. What should I do. Do I have to pay the fee separately?
You can leave your car at the nearest customs office. It is enough to submit a waiver, you will not have to pay any fees. However, if you have debts in taxes and penalties, they must be repaid.
36. Who, besides me, can use my car, which I brought as a tourist?
Vehicles may be used by the spouse (mother, father and children) of the owner of the vehicle and whose place of residence is outside the customs territory of Turkey. In addition, it can be used by third parties during the trip, provided that the owner of the vehicle is also present in the vehicle. Otherwise, criminal proceedings will be initiated against you in accordance with the provisions of Article 238 of Customs Law No. 4458.
37. Can I sell my car, which I brought as a tourist, to someone in Turkey?
Vehicles that are temporarily imported as a tourist and registered in the program cannot be transferred to another person.
38. I brought my car to Turkey as a tourist and went abroad. Can my wife/son/daughter etc. bring my car before 6 months have passed?
If your spouse/daughter/son etc. were in Turkey with you, it means that Turkey was their place of residence. In this case, just like you, they cannot import your car without staying abroad for 6 months without a break. However, if the person to whom the power of attorney will be issued was not in Turkey with you, he can import your car.
39. My car insurance is not valid in Turkey. Can I do it at the border when I enter Turkey?
An insurance policy valid in Turkey must be presented when the vehicle enters Turkey. If you do not have an insurance policy or it is not valid in Turkey, you can take out an insurance policy from the nearest place to the border customs office.
40. My car license plate was canceled outside of Turkey, I was given a temporary license plate. Can I enter Turkey with this car?
For vehicles with temporary (ZOLL) license plates, a maximum of 15 (fifteen) days is allowed during entry into Turkey.
41. Is there anything I should pay attention to when going abroad or leaving my car at customs?
Yes. When exporting a car abroad or handing it over to the customs authority, the entry record on the computer of your vehicle must be closed, and the stamp “has a vehicle” in your passport must be canceled.
